RISK ASSESSMENT
FETA Guidance on Risk Assessments for compliance with DSEAR
Following the publication of our introduction to A2L refrigerants, a number of FETA groups have been working on guidance for the industry with regard to Risk Assessments required for compliance with DSEAR – the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulation. With the growing use of a number of refrigerants which exhibit flammability to various degrees, this is a topic area which may be new to many working in the industry. It should be noted that DSEAR now applies to ALL RACHP installations; not just those using flammable refrigerants.
We intend to follow this general guidance with more specific, application based advice in due course.

A2L REFRIGERANTS
An introduction to A2L refrigerants and their use in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump applications
With the need to meet the requirements of the F gas regulation, the RACHP industry will need to embrace the use of lower flammability A2L refrigerants. FETA has compiled a guidance note to give an overview of these products, their properties and their safe usage in practice.

NEW! A2L Refrigerants: Concept and Application Guide for Refrigeration Systems in the Scope of EN 378
This Guide covers the application of A2L refrigerants in refrigeration systems which are within the scope of EN 378. It does not cover air conditioning and heat pump systems and it does not cover small (integral) systems which are within the scope of a product standard. It is not a complete design guide. The Guide takes a risk assessment based approach – the hazards of A2L refrigerants are identified and the methods of mitigating these hazards are covered, in this case by following the appropriate standard (EN 378). A Quick Start Guide has also been written to cover the basics of the topic.
